Common Questions

What is HEIC and why should I convert it?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones. While it produces smaller files, many Windows PCs, older Macs, websites, and email clients can't open HEIC photos. Converting to JPG ensures your photos work everywhere.

What photo formats does the app support?

HEIC to JPG can convert HEIC, HEIF, PNG, TIFF, and BMP photos to JPG or PNG format. EXIF metadata (dates, GPS, camera info) is preserved during conversion.

How do I convert photos?

Tap "Convert Now" on the home screen. Your photo library appears in a grid. Use filters to show only HEIC photos or hide already-converted ones. Select the photos you want, then tap Convert. You can cancel anytime and keep partial results.

Can I control the output quality and file size?

Yes. Go to Settings to adjust JPG quality (10%–100%), set a maximum file size per photo, or reduce resolution (4K, 1080p, 720p, 480p). The default quality of 85% provides an excellent balance of size and quality for most photos.

How do I email large batches of photos?

After conversion, tap "Email" on the results screen. The app automatically splits your photos into batches that fit under your email size limit (configurable in Settings, default 10 MB). Each batch opens as a separate email draft.

What does "Replace Originals" do?

Replace Originals saves the converted JPG to your photo library and deletes the original HEIC file. This frees up storage space. Deleted photos go to the "Recently Deleted" album in Photos where they can be recovered for 30 days.

Is my data sent to any servers?

No. All photo conversion happens entirely on your device. Your photos never leave your iPhone. The app works completely offline with no internet connection required.

Does converting reduce photo quality?

At the default 85% quality setting, the difference is barely noticeable for most photos. You can increase quality up to 100% for lossless-equivalent output, or lower it to produce smaller files. PNG output is always lossless.
