Drizzling Bytes ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Speakery Pro mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Voice audio: When you speak during conversations or practice exercises, your voice is processed by Apple Speech Recognition to convert it to text.
• Text: Text derived from your speech, along with conversation context, may be sent to Google or OpenAI to power AI language learning features (conversation responses, voice generation, and content safety checks).
• Feedback (optional): If you choose to submit feedback, we collect your feedback text, the scenario description, your selected language, and your device model.

1.2 Information Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to our servers:

• Language preferences and settings
• Learning progress (words learned, scenes completed, levels, streaks)
• Conversation history summaries
• App preferences

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

• Name, email address, or phone number
• Location data
• Contacts or photos (images you add to custom scenes are stored on your device only and never uploaded)
• Browsing history
• Advertising identifiers
• Analytics or usage tracking data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information solely to provide the App's language learning features:

• Voice audio — processed by Apple to convert your speech to text
• Text — sent to Google or OpenAI to generate AI responses and spoken audio
• Feedback — used to improve the App (optional, only if you submit it)
• Learning progress — stored locally to track your improvement

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App's core functionality.

3. Third-Party Providers

To power AI language learning features, we share data with the following providers. The App obtains your explicit consent before sharing any data with these services.

• Apple — Speech recognition and subscription payment processing
• Google — AI conversation and voice generation services
• OpenAI — AI conversation and voice generation services
• Google Firebase — App configuration and optional feedback storage

Each provider processes your data under their own terms of service and privacy policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Data Retention

• Voice audio: Not stored by us. Processed in real-time by Apple and discarded.
• Text sent to AI providers: Not retained by us after generating a response. Providers may retain data temporarily per their own retention policies (typically 30 days or less for abuse monitoring).
• On-device data: Stored until you delete the app or clear app data.
• Feedback submissions: Retained until no longer needed for improving the App, then deleted.

5. Data Security

All communication between the App and cloud services is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Your learning data is stored locally on your device and protected by your device's built-in security features.

6. International Data Transfers

Our third-party providers (Apple, Google, OpenAI) may process your data in countries outside your own, including the United States. These transfers are governed by each provider's terms of service and their compliance with applicable data protection frameworks.

7. Children's Privacy

Speakery Pro is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). The App does not require an account and does not collect identifying information.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access and portability: Your learning data is stored locally on your device — you already have full access to it.
• Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. To request deletion of any feedback you submitted, contact us at the email below.
• Withdraw consent: You can revoke microphone permission in iOS Settings at any time, which prevents any voice data from being processed.
• Restrict processing: You can stop using speaking features at any time — the App still functions for vocabulary learning without AI features.
• Lodge a complaint: If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your data is:

• Consent: You explicitly consent to data processing during onboarding before any data is shared with third-party providers. You may withdraw consent at any time by revoking microphone access or contacting us.
• Legitimate interest: For storing app configuration and serving learning content via Firebase (no personal data involved).

10. Business Transfers

If Drizzling Bytes is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your data by updating this Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
