None. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The app has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party tracking of any kind. The app uses certain device capabilities (described below) entirely on your device.
ScenicSpots Hawaii uses your device's location to detect when you are near a scenic landmark so it can play the corresponding audio narration as you drive. To make this work hands-free while you are driving — including when the app is in the background or your screen is locked — the app requests location permission — “While Using the App” for normal use, and “Always” for background triggering, which iOS may ask you to confirm separately — and uses geofencing and significant-location-change monitoring. This means location can be used in the background during a drive.
All location processing happens entirely on your iPhone, in real time. Your location is never sent to us, never shared with third parties, and never stored after it is used. We keep no location history. You can change or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings.
With your permission, the app may show local notifications on your device (for example, an upcoming-stop or approach alert during a drive). These notifications are generated entirely on your device and contain no data sent to us or anyone else. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings. The app does not use remote/push notifications.
The app may use Apple's Live Activities to display the current or next scenic stop on your Lock Screen or Dynamic Island during a drive. This is shown locally on your device only; no data is transmitted.
If you tap “Directions” for a stop, the app hands the destination's coordinates to Apple Maps or Google Maps so you can navigate there. That action opens a separate app, whose data handling is governed by Apple's or Google's own privacy policies, not ours. We do not send your own location to those services.
In-app purchases (per-island unlocks and the all-islands bundle) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment information. Purchase entitlements are verified on-device through Apple's StoreKit.
Your preferences (such as narration style, selected island, onboarding state, language choice, and which content you have unlocked) are stored only on your device. None of it leaves your device, and all of it is removed when you delete the app.
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, delete, or “sell.” We do not sell or share personal information. You remain in full control: revoke location or notification access, or remove all on-device data, at any time through iOS Settings or by deleting the app.
The only diagnostics we might receive are Apple's standard, anonymized, aggregated crash and usage statistics — and only if you have opted in to “Share with App Developers” in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. That data comes from Apple, is not personally identifiable, and is controlled entirely by that iOS setting. We use no other crash-reporting or analytics.
The app is rated 4+, is suitable for all ages, is not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect data from anyone (including children under 13). It does not fall under COPPA data-collection obligations because it collects no data.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
